It is a place people visit for hiking, caves, and birdwatching, and for us, it offered a quiet opportunity to record the sounds of the early hours of the day.
During our stay, the burning season had already begun, which made daytime exploration more challenging. The air was hazy and the atmosphere subdued. But just before sunrise, everything shifted.
At around 6 a.m., we positioned our VR microphone into the forest and let the environment unfold naturally. What emerged was a gentle, spacious morning soundscape filled with birdsong, subtle insect activity, and the soft movement of leaves in the mountain air.
This recording captures that brief window when the forest wakes up, before the day fully takes over. A calm, immersive ambience from northern Thailand that reflects both the stillness of the mountains and the quiet resilience of nature during a difficult season.
