Important note about AI and sound licensing
Over the past weeks it’s become clear that some research teams have been scraping the web or buying commercial sound libraries, using those recordings to train internal AI models, and only later realizing they don’t actually have the legal rights to do so. Once these projects reach larger companies, their legal teams start asking the obvious questions:
Where did these sounds come from?
Who gave permission for them to be used this way?
Sound recordings are protected works, just like music, film, or photography. Using them for AI training or dataset building without proper authorization can create serious legal and financial risk for everyone involved.
If you’re reading this page, you’re already on the right track.
Whether you’re an independent developer, a researcher, or part of a large company, the best approach is always to get the licensing right before you train a model. If you plan to use our recordings for AI or machine learning, reach out to us and we can discuss a proper license that protects both sides.
Doing it the right way now is far better than trying to fix things later.
