Heavy Rain on Metal Roof Tasmania
11 files • 24 bit/192-96 kHz • 2.5 GB • 34 minWe recorded this sound library across two memorable locations, capturing the unique character of rain falling on metal roofs in both suburban Australia and the remote Tasmanian wilderness.
One recording was captured inside a small metal shed in a quiet residential garden in Geelong, where gentle rainfall creates a soft, intimate atmosphere as raindrops patter across the roof overhead.
The remaining recordings were made during our road trip to Strathgordon while staying overnight at the free campground at Teds Beach in southwest Tasmania. Rain fell for most of the day and continued well into the night as strong winds swept through the surrounding forest and across the nearby lake. Aside from an elderly couple camping in a beautiful RV, we had the campground almost entirely to ourselves, with only the sounds of wildlife sheltering in the bush as the storm passed through the landscape.
One recording captures intense rain hammering the metal roof of the campground's kitchen shelter, creating a powerful and immersive downpour. Another was recorded inside an old campground bathroom, where lighter rainfall resonates through the hollow metal structure, producing a wonderfully atmospheric and slightly eerie sound.
That night at Teds Beach remains one of our favorite camping experiences in Tasmania. Despite the relentless rain, the combination of the tranquil lakeside setting, towering forests, and complete isolation made it an unforgettable place to spend the night.
This collection features everything from gentle raindrops and heavy rain impacts on metal roofs to storm winds, resonant interior spaces, and authentic campground ambience. It's an excellent resource for films, documentaries, video games, podcasts, and sound design projects that require realistic rain, storm, and wilderness recordings.
