Heavy Cargo Train Sounds Australia

This sound library includes 12 powerful recordings of heavy freight trains we recorded in two locations across Australia: Rockhampton and Port Hedland. Both areas are known for operating some of the longest trains in the world, with lengths stretching up to 3 kilometers.

In Rockhampton, we recorded coal trains from a metal footbridge on a windy day. The passing trains combined with the rushing wind to create an intense and layered atmosphere, rich with industrial energy. In Port Hedland, we focused on the deep, resonant sounds of massive iron ore carriages as they rolled slowly toward the mines and returned fully loaded.

These recordings offer more than just typical railway sounds. Instead of sharp squeals or rhythmic clattering, you’ll hear long, heavy rumbles and immersive metallic drones that convey the sheer weight and scale of these machines.

The Heavy Cargo Train Sounds library is perfect for sound designers, filmmakers, and audio creators who want raw, impactful, and unique freight train ambience to bring their projects to life.
