Flying Foxes and Fruit Bat Sounds
Flying Foxes and Fruit Bat Sounds – Night Wildlife Sound Library
Around 5 a.m. in the quiet town of Pine Creek in Australia’s Northern Territory, we left our campground to capture an unforgettable soundscape. Above us thousands of flying foxes were returning from their night flights, filling the sky with screeching, squabbling, and flapping wings as they settled into the trees.
We recorded these sounds in a small public park, where the intense vocalizations of the flying foxes blended with the subtle layers of early morning life. You’ll hear roosters calling in the distance, the occasional car passing by, and dogs barking, adding a grounded, real-world feel to the wild and eerie atmosphere.
Flying foxes are the world’s largest bats, with wingspans over a meter. While their sounds can be haunting, they play a crucial role in Australia’s ecosystem as pollinators and seed dispersers.
This Flying Foxes and Fruit Bat Sounds library offers an immersive and unfiltered window into Australian wildlife, perfect for anyone creating with nature, tension, or rural authenticity in mind.
