Elevator Doors and Room Tone Sound Library

We’ve taken to the heart of city living and recorded an element so characteristic yet often overlooked: the sounds of elevators. From the mechanical clatter of doors, floor indicator beeps, to the soothing hum of ascending and descending, these sounds are a unique part of urban life.

We recorded these distinctive sounds in two different locations: a vintage 90s Wellington apartment complex and an early 2000’s building in St Kilda, Melbourne. Every detail, every nuance, from the mellow hum and unique creaks of the Wellington elevator, to the gratifying slide of doors in the Melbourne complex, paints an auditory picture of these locations.

Whether you’re a sound designer seeking out authentic high-quality elevator sounds, or an audio enthusiast keen to delve into the captivating soundscapes of urban life, this library is a treasure trove of fascinating sonic moments.
