Discover the Mesmerizing Sounds of "The Wedge" at Newport Beach

Nestled along the vibrant coast of Southern California, "The Wedge" stands for the raw power and beauty of the ocean. Known as one of the most exhilarating and perilous surf spots in the area, it attracts bodysurfers from Huntington Beach to Balboa Island, drawn by its legendary swells.

"The Wedge" isn't just a surf spot; it's a piece of history woven with tales of triumph and tragedy. Its story began in 1926 with a heart-wrenching incident that led to the loss of a polio survivor, the young son of a successful road builder, whose life was claimed by the ocean's unforgiving waves. This tragedy spurred a mission of hope and resilience, resulting in the extension of the West Jetty wall, a project born from a father's love aimed at safeguarding future generations.

Completed a decade later, this revamped spot earned the affectionate nickname "The Hook" among local bodysurfers, only to be known as "The Wedge" by the 60s. Today, it not only offers some of the most challenging waves but also serves as a sonic sanctuary for those seeking the ocean's most profound and soothing sounds.
