How To Rebuild ORTF 3D Recordings From Split Stereo WAV Files
This is a very specific article for everyone downloading our ORTF 3D recordings from Bandcamp and explains how you can quickly rebuild the original 8-channel ORTF 3D recordings inside Reaper from the included split stereo WAV files in minutes.
How To Upload ORTF 3D Recordings To Bandcamp
We have been using Bandcamp since 2017, and even today, many artists and sound designers still prefer the platform. When you know something works, you stick with it. Of course, there are many other platforms available today, and we use several of them as well, but we still wanted our monthly and yearly Bandcamp supporters to have access to our newest immersive recordings.
The problem is that Bandcamp currently does not support higher multichannel WAV files, which meant we needed to find a workaround for uploading our Schoeps ORTF 3D recordings.
To make this possible, we split the original 8-channel ORTF 3D recordings into four synchronized stereo WAV files while still preserving the original channel structure L, R, Ls, Rs, Lh, Rh, LSh, RSh.
Original channel layout:
• L = Left
• R = Right
• Ls = Left Surround
• Rs = Right Surround
• Lh = Left Height
• Rh = Right Height
• LSh = Left Surround Height
• RSh = Right Surround Height
When importing the files into Reaper, make sure they are organized in the correct order:
• Track 1 = L / R
• Track 2 = Ls / Rs
• Track 3 = Lh / Rh
• Track 4 = LSh / RSh
If you move all four files to the beginning of each track inside Reaper, they should automatically line up and match perfectly since all stereo pairs were originally split from the same synchronized ORTF 3D recording.
VERY IMPORTANT:
Every four files on Bandcamp always represent one complete ORTF 3D recording.
Example:
• Tracks 1–4 = ORTF 3D Recording 01
• Tracks 5–8 = ORTF 3D Recording 02
• Tracks 9–12 = ORTF 3D Recording 03
…and so on.
Make sure you always group the correct four stereo files together before rebuilding the original 8-channel ORTF 3D WAV file.

If you do not want to rebuild the recordings manually, that is not a problem at all. We also upload our newer ORTF 3D releases to PayHip, where the recordings are provided as original untouched 8-channel WAV files without being split into stereo pairs.
