Recording spooky wind sounds at night
When we stayed in Samara, Costa Rica for a few weeks we stayed at an Airbnb that was located on a huge property full of palm trees and bushes. On the first day we arrived, we saw several howler monkeys in the trees stealing mangoes!
One night I woke up at 3 am to the sound of heavy wind rustling the leaves. Even in the middle of the night, I knew I had to capture the sounds outside the house and of the “spooky” wind noises between the trees and the bushes! I’m certain there was something other than the wind moving the leaves in the bushes… maybe a raccoon or iguana?
While recording I run into a chair which I kept in the recording! There wasn’t a light switch on my way and I’m certain I woke up our hosts because I heard someone cough. In the background of the recording, you will listen to some spooky metallic squeaking that follows the direction of the wind.
Before I stopped the recordings an ATV approached in the distance, turned around and disappeared. I believe we have some nice wind sounds.
