Chungmuro is without a doubt, one of the most iconic and unique neighborhoods we discovered while living in Seoul.
It’s one of the many locations, we hope it will never change and remains exactly how it is. A place with a heart, tradition and S(e)oul!
While wandering around the area, a printing shop business owner came up to us and the next thing we knew, we were inside a small shop recording the sounds of an old printing machine and a modern paper cutter.
Later that day we decided to come back at night and more Seoul Printing Town Ambience in VR ambisonic sound with the RØDE NTSF-1.
This area is insanely busy during the day so it’s difficult not to run into someone hurrying through the streets, and it has an entirely different vibe at night.
We wandered along side streets, recording sounds in dark and eerie alleyways, close to printing shops, and from a distance. The incredible sounds of the printing machines can be still heard from all directions.
Be sure to check out more sounds on our Ambience page and this Korea Elevator Sound Library.
Who would have thought a handy sound recorder in Cambodia would lead us here?
Hi there we’re Marcel and Libby and every sound on this site has been recorded by us. For nearly 7 years, we’ve been traveling around the world recording unique sounds for others to use!
If you’re curious and want to learn more about our journey traveling full-time as sound recordists you can read on here or on CNN Travel.
