Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the stunning Pigeon Valley in Cappadocia. This breathtaking area, located between Goreme and Uçhisar, is known for its incredible hiking trails and breathtaking views. And, as you might have guessed from its name, the valley is home to thousands of pigeon houses carved into the soft tuff by farmers thousands of years ago. Pigeons have always been an important part of life in the region, providing both food and fertilizer for the local farmers. In fact, many farmers still maintain their lofts, and believe that the fruits of Cappadocia are the sweetest and juiciest in Turkey thanks to the nourishing effects of pigeon dung.
