Recording Cruise Ship Sound Effects in Malta
Welcome to Malta!
We spent 3 months in Malta and lived in Valletta, the capital of Malta. The port is located between Valetta and the three cities of Cospicua, Vittoriosa, and Senglea. It’s fascinating to watch the largest cruise ships come into the port and turn 180 degrees to moor the ship.
One early morning I walked to Fort Elmo and waited by the water to record the arrival of the MSC Grandiosa, which is still one of the largest cruise ships in the world today.
I could see and hear her far in the distance and she drove slowly and steadily into the port of Valletta.
I recorded the sounds of the cruise ship’s horn, the engine, and the exhaust sound coming from the funnel with the slow-running motor from above, but I also used the Ambient ASF2 MK2 hydrophone to record the ships propeller sounds underwater.
It is not always easy to record such sounds near to a cruise ship as most ports are blocked off with fences, but not in Malta.
So if you’re looking for a cruise ship ambience, this library is for you. If you are looking for more Malta Ambience, Sound Libraries or Sound Effects, take a look at our All In One Bundle with many more recordings from Malta.
