Thunder rolling & city rain sounds from Singapore are the first recordings I like to share with you & don’t worry more sounds will come!
We are in Bali for another 2 weeks and then we stay for at least two months in Singapore.
The contact microphones and the hydrophones arrived safely and waiting for me to be used.
Let’s see how Marina Bay underwater sounds like. 🙂
About the thunder rolling recording
We lived in Geylang for a couple of days in a really cool two-floor house. It was around 4 am in the morning as I woke up to some really crazy rain sounds followed by some nice thunder rolling.
Some parts of the house on the site are open and have a metal roof. The raindrops are super intense on this site and in my opinion pretty unique.
If you go to track number 5 & 6 in the Bandcamp album It’s just like somebody plays Ping-Pong. Crazy sound.
Another bonus track that I did was from Garfield. Our friend’s cat was hungry and we gave him food and I recorded him eating. This is track number four. Sounds pretty fun. Track number six!
Besides the indoor recording, I went outside the house to the street. What I love about the house is the architecture. The so-called shophouse style has a five-foot covered walkway sheltered by the first floor. This style goes back to 1822 and the first time I experienced this style was in Penang, Malaysia. I highly recommend Georgetown if you want to visit SEA someday.
The house was many years ago just a regular shop and there are still several others across the streets.
Here is the location on Google maps.
We had a nice bench in this five-foot way and I placed the recorder on the table so I could record the rain fallen on the street. This is track number
Whats extra cool is that a Taxi driver parked right in front of our house and you can listen to the running engine and the doors open & closing plus driving away.
This is in track number two & three.
You can listen to how the rain falls on the wet road & on the metal roof on the other side of the road. Just like in Blade Runner. 🙂
