In 2018, we were lucky enough to attend a traditional Balinese cremation ceremony in Ubud, a sacred event that takes place when a respected member of the community passes away. The community comes together to celebrate life and honor the deceased.
As we were driving to grab lunch, we stumbled upon a large gathering of men near a fire. At the time, we were unaware that a funeral was taking place, and the cremation process was happening right before our eyes. It wasn’t until we spoke with our landlord that we learned about the significance of the event and the traditional customs of the Balinese people.
Our experience in Ubud inspired us to create a sound library of the bonfire, crackling fire, and explosion sounds we heard that day so that others could use them in their projects. This royalty-free sound library is a unique, authentic way to bring the atmosphere of a Balinese ceremony to your work.
Be sure to check out more sounds on our Nature page and this Costa Rica Bonfire Sound Effects Library.
Who would have thought a handy sound recorder in Cambodia would lead us here?
Hi there we’re Marcel and Libby and every sound on this site has been recorded by us. For nearly 7 years, we’ve been traveling around the world recording unique sounds for others to use!
If you’re curious and want to learn more about our journey traveling full-time as sound recordists you can read on here or on CNN Travel.
