Relaxing Ocean Sounds recording from Tanah Lot in Bali
This time I went to Tanah Lot and I am going to record more ocean sounds around Bali and I create a “Bali Ocean Sounds Album before leaving Bali.
It was a long and a hot trip coming from Ubud. It took me about 1.5 hours by scooter but if the traffic is not so bad it is a really nice drive. The streets are all in perfect conditions.
I was covered in clothes to protect my skin from the sun but I forgot to wear gloves. My hands are fire red right now but it was totally worth it! 🙂
What and where is Tanah Lot?
Tanah Lot is a rocky area on the south-west coast of Bali and home to the ancient Hindu pilgrimage temple Pura Tanah Lot.
Now it is a popular tourist spot and I clearly came too late. The best time is in the morning but if you come to early and the tide is still high you can’t access the rocky area what was my only chance to escape the noisy tourists.
Tanah Lot is an incredibly beautiful spot and if you come to Bali you should invest some time to come here! I paid for a single (one person) entry ticket with my motorbike 63000 Rupiah or 4.60 USD.
Before you arrive at the ocean you have to walk around the, I call it, “tourist trap” market but people are not so “pushy” anymore.
Two years ago when we came the first time to Tanah Lot it was totally different! Maybe this changed or we changed in all our behavior and how we see things when it comes to “oh they are maybe trying to rip us off” situations?
Three years traveling made me super comfortable and its way easier to say “No” like at the beginning in 2015 that’s for sure.
For the recording, I used the DPA 4060 together with the Zoom H6 around my neck and walked along the stony cost.
While walking I just hold the mics in my hands to capture these powerful waves!
You have some little birds in the recording as well and its just a nice sound if the waves going back to the ocean and brushing over the stones.
The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.
