Tanah Lot is a picturesque location on the south-west coast of Bali, and it is home to the ancient and sacred Hindu pilgrimage temple Pura Tanah Lot. It is a popular tourist spot, attracting large crowds of visitors from around the world.
As a sound recordist, I was excited to capture the relaxing sounds of the ocean at Tanah Lot. However, I made the mistake of arriving at the location a little too late in the day. The best time to record the ocean at Tanah Lot is in the morning, when the tide is low and you can access the rocky area. Unfortunately, by the time I arrived, the tide was high, and I was forced to contend with the noise from the tourists.
Despite the challenges, I was determined to capture the sounds of the ocean at Tanah Lot. I used a DPA 4060 microphone together with a Zoom H6 recorder to capture the powerful waves crashing against the rocks. I held the mics in my hands as I walked along the rocky coast, capturing the sound of the waves as they receded back into the ocean and brushed against the stones. The sound was truly mesmerizing, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe and wonder as I listened to the ocean’s symphony.
In addition to the sounds of the ocean, I also captured the calls of some small birds that were perched on the rocks. These birds added a sense of ambiance and realism to the recording, perfectly capturing the essence of the location.
In total, I was able to capture over 80 ocean sounds from around the world. Track #3 in particular, features over 7 minutes of ocean ambience from Tanah Lot in Bali. This sound library is perfect for those looking to create a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. Whether you’re a sound designer, music producer, or just someone looking to unwind, these ocean sounds are sure to transport you to a place of tranquility and serenity.
While the recording process was not without its challenges, I am grateful for the opportunity to capture the soothing sounds of the ocean at Tanah Lot. The ocean has a powerful and therapeutic effect on the human mind, and I believe that these sounds can help people to relax and find a sense of inner peace. Whether you’re looking to create a relaxing soundtrack for your yoga practice or simply want to unwind after a long day, these ocean sounds are sure to bring a sense of calm and tranquility to your day.
