Recording relaxing ASMR ocean sounds underwater with hydrophones
One of my most visited categories on the website is by far the “ASMR” category. I’m not whispering into microphones or brushing my hair for hours but I do have some sounds in this category that can trigger relaxing or tingling feelings. I recorded these sounds at Batu Ferringhi in Penang, Malaysia along the coast.
What is ASMR?
If you haven’t heard of ASMR yet, it’s a movement that has been gaining a lot of traction the last few years. ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response which creates a feeling of well-being which is often accommodated by a tingling sensation on the scalp or back of the neck. There are YouTube channels like Gentle Whispering ASMR & ASMR Darling that have millions of subscribers seeking these feelings whenever viewing their content.
From the perspective of someone who records sounds, it’s satisfying knowing that my audio can provide a way to relieve stress for others.
What you will hear…
In these recordings you can listen to the sand scratching on the microphones, the waves splashing on the beach and brushing the sand. Not only are these recordings wonderful to listen to but they are also great for sound design.
