Protesting People Ambience

“Friday for Future” is a global movement that emerged in August 2018, initiated by Greta Thunberg. Every Friday, students and activists from around the world come together to voice their concerns and advocate for actions to address climate change.

During our time in Lisbon, our friend Miguel informed us about an upcoming climate strike, prompting us to join the demonstration with the intention of recording the atmosphere and protesting people ambience.

The collective spirit of people coming together for a common cause was evident from a distance as we approached Praça Luís de Camões. The atmosphere was charged with energy and enthusiasm, and it was notable for being a peaceful and nonviolent protest.

Participants expressed their opinions through chants, songs, musical instruments, and megaphones. We covered various locations, starting at Praça Luís de Camões, proceeding along Calçada do Combro, and concluding at the Assembly of the Republic (the parliament building) in Lisbon.

Our protesting people ambience recordings encompassed a range of distances, from 50 to 200 meters, providing different perspectives on the sounds of the protest. We hope that these archived recordings will be valuable for various productions in the years to come.
