As I stood on a bridge overlooking the traffic of Kobe we saw the Kobe monorail arriving and with my audio equipment ready, we eagerly awaited the arrival of the monorail. As it approached, I was able to record the low hum of the engine, which was only heightened by the sounds of traffic rushing beneath the pedestrian bridge.

Stepping into the monorail station, I recorded the room tone, taking in all the eerie sounds of an empty train station and the anticipation built as the train pulled into the station, its doors opening with a satisfying beep. I quickly boarded the train and took my seat, looking out the window and into the night.

As I sat inside the monotrain, I was amazed at the unique movements of the self-driving monorail. It rumbled slowly along the tracks, and I was able to record all of these unique sounds. I also recorded some English chatter in the background.

The journey on the Kobe Monorail was just another amazing sound experience and I’m thrilled to be able to share it with others through our new sound library.

Whether you’re a filmmaker, sound designer, or just a lover of unique trains, I know you’ll find something to love in this collection.
