Recording Japan Sound Effects in Tokyo
This recording is one of my favorites from Japan. While exploring Japan for several weeks we stopped by Asakusa and visited the oldest temple in Tokyo.
Before entering the famous Sensoji temple, I recorded the sounds at the Nakamise shopping street. This street is around 250 meters long where you can find more than 50 shops selling food and souvenirs.
People were literary walking shoulder to shoulder along the street. I used DPAs and held them in my left and right hand. Of course, I got a few stares from nearby tourists wondering what were those fuzzing things I was holding.
Even if I looked strange, it was totally worth it because I recorded some unforgettable crowd walla. Besides the sounds of the people, I also captured sounds of an Omikuji which are Japanese fortune-telling paper strips (it starts at minute 3:00!) These royalty-free sounds are perfect for background sounds and can be used for either personal or commercial projects!
