Recording calm & quiet harbor sounds in Iceland 2020
On June 15th Iceland opened its border to a small number of countries and allow tourists to explore the island. Luckily we were some of the first to enter the country!
Before we arrived in Iceland, I researched how we could travel around the island but still be isolated without having too much interaction with locals and other travelers.
A camper van was by far one of the best ways to explore this beautiful country! We booked a camper van with Cozy Campers and loved every minute of it!
At that time, they offered the best price and ended up paying $2300 for one month. The van was a fully equipped Volkswagen T6 4×4 with a comfortable bed!
After finishing the Golden Circle we drove the classic ring road but counter clockwise including all parts of the Westfjords too. Each time we reached a small town on the coast, I went to the harbour area and recorded the calming and quiet ambience. Depending on when we arrived you can find day and night recordings in this sound library. Well, in summer there is no real darkness, which made recording at 3 am super exciting. Around this time I could record less bird sounds then in the daytime for example.
In some harbor towns we had a little bit more wind and sometimes higher waves. The harbour sounds with a little bit more activity are from Husavik & Reykjavik.
This is the perfect sound library for anyone looking for quiet and calm harbor sounds for post-production, video game, podcasts, audio dramas or even for music production.
Harbor Sounds Iceland is a small release out of the main Sounds Of Iceland library with over 400 recordings (which is also part of the All In One Bundle!)
