Recording Gondola Sounds in Colorado
To create this unique Gondola Sounds & Ski Lift Sound Effects Library I went to ski areas in Telluride, Breckenridge & Beaver Creek, Colorado. However, I did include additional gondola sounds from Virgin Mountain and Dalat while traveling across Vietnam on my motorbike!
If you’re looking for the perfect ski lift sound, I’m sure this library has you covered. These sounds are great for creating new sound designs as well (listen to machine sounds & contact microphone recordings inside this library!)
Sounds you’ll hear inside the gondolas
I recorded the ambience around the lift stations and the interior sounds inside the cabins! Because I was always alone in the cabins I could capture all the amazing rumbling, vibrations, swinging, and humming sounds. I also used a contact microphone to get more of the metallic vibration which is super dark, creepy, and unworldly!
Sounds recorded at the lift stations
At the lift station that is where you get a real idea of the massive machine sounds that firing up the lifts! I know that most people don’t pay attention to this sound but if you listen on purpose the low noise rumble gives you chills. I recorded myself entering the cabin, doors opening, and closing. I also captured the sound of several people chatting and entering the station followed with entrance check and beeping sounds!
After searching for similar sound libraries I discovered only a few single recordings on different platforms but I think this gondola sounds & ski lift sound effects library is the first one in this form! So make sure you download your copy and have fun with the sounds!
