Authentic cock fight sound effects and crowd ambience from Bali, Indonesia!
Living with locals shows you the real Bali. While living with a family near Ubud, we experienced an event called Tajen or a Balinese cockfight. If you walk or drive around the streets you can see everywhere roosters covered by individual baskets. These chickens are for the fights which is actually illegal (besides for a few particular, religious reasons.)
One day our landlord invited me to witness one. He had 3 roosters and normally I would never go to such an event but for sound recording, I thought it was important to archive these sounds and present them to the world. The event was right next to our house in a backyard of a laundry mat.
When I arrived a crowd of 50 people were already there and the first fight was over. More and more people showed up and you can listen to the crowd and roosters in the baskets. If two roosters are chosen each of them had a sharp knife on one leg attached. Since roosters are naturally aggressive to each other and they fight immediately jump on each other.
A fight is no longer than two minutes.
